For the Cal Pipe companies I was responsible for basic branding including in most cases naming product lines and even copyrighting service marks and names. Hands-on development of all printed materials was required, which included design layout, product shots and photo editing, technical diagram preparation, illustration, contract freehand art, content definition, gathering content from subject matter experts, and project managing where required through print fulfillment. On a couple of occasions outside layout was contracted to help with the workload. Below is representative of print production.

My job was to gather together all the part information and technical content and then categorize, organize, create the graphics, and layout the product lines in intelligible ways for the distributors and customers of these products. I photographed and edited product photos, or created illustrations when necessary, for these catalogs. My background with project management helped smooth the process where such organization has never taken place. I had layout help in the Stainless Steel catalog, version 3 and more layout help in the Security Bollard catalog. I contracted sketch art and illustration for the Bollard catalog that was used for the cover, back cover, and throughout for the Bollard catalog. Since the Coated and Steel catalog pages were essentially lists only the covers are shown here.

Product Brochures
Before the Bollard catalog there were brochures for the four main types of security bollards. The timing for these brochures and the BOLLARD CATALOG was such that the company had no product or installation pictures or sites that could be photographed so everything had to be produced with photo-effects to make over royalty-free art into bollard scenes and create illustrations from scratch. The last image is a cover for a bollard placement manual for Westfield Malls local managers.
